BOOK OF NOMAD | MOTH TO A FLAME
Moth to a Flame is a blueberry Nordic Mead. We began fermentation by pitching Kveik yeast into fresh pressed NY apple juice. Kviek yeast has subtle citrus and tropical fruitiness but is also relatively neutral, giving the strain a lot of flexibility for additional ingredients. After fermentation, we made tea from elderflower, juniper berries, Palo Santo wood, lemon zest, mint, and lavender. Covered and steeped for 30 minutes, the ingredients are extracted, creating a super concentrated flavor. The solids were strained from the tea, then blended with wildflower honey and blueberry. Lastly, we transferred and blended the tea into the base cider.
SHARED UNIVERSE | STRANGE RANGE
We teamed up with @crookedstave out of Denver, Colorado, to make Strange Range, a Brett Fermented Farmhouse Cider. We have always admired Crooked Staves liquid, even from the beginning of Graft, so needless to say; we are excited to work with them. Every collaboration starts with deciding the style of the cider + beer. We landed on making a farmhouse-style cider.
